How to make barcode labels
Create sheets of scannable barcodes for products, stock and shipments. Code 128 handles letters and numbers, EAN-13 and UPC-A are for retail, and Code 39 is common in warehouses and industry.
Generate a run of sequential codes with {{#}}, or paste your own list of SKUs to print one barcode per label.
Tips
- Code 128 is the most compact choice for letters and numbers.
- EAN-13 needs 12 digits; the 13th (check digit) is added automatically.
- Print in black on white for the best scan rate.
Frequently asked questions
Which barcode type should I use?
For retail products use EAN-13 (or UPC-A in the US). For internal SKUs, locations and serial numbers, Code 128 is compact and accepts letters. Code 39 is older but supported by every scanner.
Are the barcodes high resolution?
Yes. Bars are vector shapes in the PDF, so they print perfectly sharp at any size.
Do I need to register barcodes?
Internal codes (SKUs, assets, bins) need no registration. To sell products in retail stores you usually need EAN/UPC numbers from GS1.
