How to make shelf labels
Mark aisles, racks, shelves and bins with large location codes that can be read from a distance, plus a barcode for scanning.
Paste your list of locations from a spreadsheet and get one label per location, ready to stick on the shelf edge.
Tips
Use a consistent code format like A-01-03 (aisle, bay, level).
Code 39 and Code 128 work well for location barcodes.
For wire racks, larger labels like 4″ × 2″ are easier to read.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make labels for all my locations?
Paste your locations under a header row (for example Location, Description). Use {{Location}} for the big text and the barcode, and {{Description}} for the small text.
Can I make the location text bigger?
Yes. Resize the text box by dragging its corner; the text grows to fill it.
Which barcode is best for shelf locations?
Code 128 is compact and reliable; Code 39 is supported by older scanners.
